[title of show] and the New Works Festival
Music and Lyrics by Jeff Bowen
Book by Hunter Bell
Directed by Mary Fox
A musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical. An outrageously funny show about the joys and pains that go into creating something bold, original and new. A moving and inspirational tribute to the people who do what they love not for money or fame or praise – but simply because they love it. A 2009 Tony Award nominee, this show is ultimately a love letter to the joy of creation and collaboration wrapped up in the laugh-out-loud funny story of what it takes to be an original.
[title of show] will be the centerpiece of our 2015 New Works Festival, a festival dedicated to bold new voices telling brave new stories. This summer, Renegade will open its doors wide to writers, directors, actors and designers and unite them under one goal: the creation and development of new work. The pieces and writers selected for the festival from our open submission process will be paired with a director, cast and crew, who will spend several weeks rehearsing, working and re-writing together before presenting a staged reading to the public. Perhaps one of the New Works of 2015 will become your new favorite thing.
I’d rather be nine people’s favorite thing than a hundred people’s ninth favorite thing ...
